Dear Ones,

So so so sorry for the delay in relaying news of Mary Mallette. She continues to be in-patient at Wake Forest Baptist Health and will be for the foreseeable future.

Her immune system must recover from the chemo treatments and this takes time. She is right where the doctors expect her to be and we just must learn to be patient...ugh!!! We are learning.

The GOOD NEWS is she is having a much better week. YAY!!! Since Monday, many of the complications from the reinduction of chemo have abated and she is resting easier. Really.

Mary Mallette continues to charm and endear herself to the staff. I mean, the medical students that she met the first week, continue to come by and check on her. Two of them left their current rotation, dressed in their scrubs, came in to show her their socks. Now this is an inside story, but suffice it to say that the hero of this story is MM. They were thrilled to hear the news that she did not have any of those damn leukemia cells remaining after the second round...they were so pleased and it was evident by their grins. Of course, the more introverted they are to begin with, the more charmed they are by MM day in and day out.

I am so happy to report that this has been an easier week for her, but not easy.

We will continue to be here until her counts improve. Then, the next hurdle and where all your good thoughts and prayers are needed is for the next bone marrow biopsy to be clear. As her bone marrow recovers we need for it to be CLEAR!!!

As her numbers improve, she will be allowed to come home before the next phase of treatment.

HOME...HOME...HOME...pray for a clear biopsy and then be ready to welcome MM HOME for respite and recovery before she takes on the the transplant.

I am headed home over the weekend.

Mary Mallette feels the love from all of her friends and family and is grateful for all your prayers, cards, texts and good thoughts.
